Painting by Chagall, by The Weepies: Ahh, I love The Weepies. If you don't know them, don't let the name fool you: this is no emo group about sadness and despair! Something about the lead singer's voice is so wonderful. Is it reedy? I'm not sure that's the right word for it, but it's awesome. It's sweet and dreamy , and I like the song's imagery. A look at the lyrics: "We float like two lovers in a Painting by Chagall/ all around is sky and blue town/ holding these flowers for a wedding gown/ We live so high above the ground, satellites surround us"

Nobody Knows Me At All by The Weepies: I know, I know. This title is hardly non-emo sounding. But this is really a beautiful song, with just the right mix of sad/sweet. I mean how can you not like lyrics that go "I don't give a damn, I'm happy as a clam!/ Nobody knows me at all"?
Also, the link for this is a video some people made that I rather like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBzA76QGgz8
L.E.S. Artistes by Santigold: Love, love, love this song. Amazing, riveting voice that I'm not even sure is singing, à la Tegan and Sara? Check. Great lyrics? Check. Catchy beat? Check. Hurrah! I only know one other Santigold song; it's called Shove It and my lovely friend Annie gave it to me as part of a GG mix. Which is even more reason to love Santigold, because pretty much any song on GG is gold. A peek at the lyrics: "What I'm searching for/ to tell it straight I'm trying to build a wall.../ Stop trying to catch my eye/ I see you good you forced faker/ Just make it easy/ you're my enemy you fast talker".
